Reply with quote | #1 | Dear all
I'd like to share some books and DVDs with you all. The idea is to learn more about green issues without having to buy the book!
The rental for each item will be 50p and will go towards buying new books and DVDs. With the DVDs we ask that you watch them with a couple of friends if possible so that you can share your experience and have a bit of a discussion.
I will detail the books in this thread.
If you'd like to borrow something, please email me cathyolsen-at-onetel.com (swap the -at- for an @).
Cheers Cathy
PS if you've got some books to add to the Library - please let me know. |

Reply with quote | #5 | Not on the Label - Lawrence - book
We no longer trust what we eat. We lurch instead from food scare to food scare while farming is in crisis around the world. A handful of retails and food manufacturers exert unprecedented control over what we eat and where we buy it. We have come to depend on processed food that is routinely adulterated. |

With the number of cars growing rapidly, polluting our environment, creating health problems and contributing to global warming, it's time for us to tackle our car dependency.
Less traffic means safter, quieter streets, thriving local communities and healthier and weathier people.
How much does your car cost you a year? Could you manage without your car most days? Could you share lifts or car ownership? What are the alternatives to car ownership? How can companies benefit from green commuting? |

Reply with quote | #8 | A Life Stripped Bare - Hickman - book
Over the course of a year, Leo set out to answer some big questions with an unusual experiment. Could he and his family continue to live a 'normal' life - job, mortgage, kids, holidays - while at the same time making each daily choice or decision an 'ethical' one - for the family, their neighbours and the environment.
This is the story of that year and is a record of an extraordinary transformation. |

These days our culture teaches us that faster is better. But in the race to keep up everything suggers - our work, diet and health, our relationships and sex lives. We are in such a hurry that anything that slows us down becomes the enemy. Carl Honore uncovers a movement that challenges the cult of speed by proving that slower is often better. |
